Sixth Form Play 2020: 'Dancing at Lughnasa'

by James Robinson

It's the final PGS Drama Friday this week, and we're delighted to share with you our Sixth Form Play 2020, Dancing At Lughnasa by Brian Friel, directed by Verity Glading and Hannah Rayner and recorded remotely with a superb Year 12 cast.

As Michael Evans casts his mind back to his upbringing as a young boy in 1930s rural Ireland, his memories bring his mother Chris and her four sisters to life, along with his itinerant father Gerry and their brother Jack, a missionary who has returned from Uganda having changed his faith.

Mixing bittersweet comedy and poignancy, 'Dancing At Lughnasa' is a masterful portrait of life and longing, in a community that is about to change forever. We intend to perform the play on stage in February 2021, but until then we hope you enjoy this lovely piece of lockdown theatre, using this link: https://www.youtube.com/watchv=pbFo4HIiwis.

The performance will begin at 5pm this Friday!
