The World Is Burning

by Max Budgen

At the moment, as most of you probably know, we are going through a worldwide crisis.
Australia has been going through a series of big fires that started occurring last November.
So far, over one million animals and many humans have died. There was a big event at the Sydney Opera House, where there were projections of the fires and firefighters; see the video, "Sydney Opera House Says Thank You" here (warning: you may find some images distressing):

Although it seems the problem has been resolved, it hasn’t; many people's precious lives are being lost as you read this. Take a second just to think about being in their situation. Here is a video of the bushfires:

Although we are helping by donating to animal care centers and firefighters, the situation is just getting worse. Animals are even fleeing to humans for help. This clip shows you an example:

We need to act.

Australia is not the only country needing help though. The US has also undergone some pretty major climate problems; two weeks ago, a roof of a house got torn off by extreme winds and 5 people were killed. This is not a joke. Our world is more important than anything: any rock star, any millionaire, any war, Brexit or politics. This is serious. You may not think it is your responsibility, but it is. We make our future. The question is: will there be a future for us?

But it is not too late to fix this mess we have made. You can donate to lots of charities that help animals and firefighters in Australia to fight these life destroying fires.

Millions of trees have burnt down as a result of these fires. This is a big problem for us as, when the carbon dioxide goes up into the air from fossil fuel factories or our breath, the trees act as a filter that stops that C02 and replaces it with oxygen. That means if we plant enough trees it will make a huge difference, not just to the air quality but to the climate as well. If you want to help plant trees, donate to Team Trees; for every one pound/dollar they receive, they will plant one tree; they have already planted over 20 million trees over the course of 2 months!. If you want to donate to this life-changing fund, click here: teamtrees.org.

I am sure most readers read the news. Therefore, you will know about Harry and Meghan giving up their royal duties, about Brexit, Iran shooting down a plane. But all the press seems to want to talk about is Harry and Meghan. This is why I am writing this article now. To express things the news doesn’t.

More animal and human lives will be taken by the strong force of Mother Nature unless we all help. All of us. Even if it is something small like donating to firefighters in Australia, animal-care centres, Team Trees or any other charity that will make a difference. If you are going to act, act now. Before it’s too late.
