Denmark Men’s Team Refused Pay Rise So Their Women’s Team Receive Equal Pay

 by Jamie H

Denmark male football players have refused to pay rise as a national team to help ensure equal standards for football. They came into an agreement with the danish football Association that includes equal conditions for the women’s team. This included equal basic payment for national team appearances and an insurance coverage upgrade for women’s teams and the men’s under 21 team, due to a 15% decrease of national men’s coverage. In addition the DBU will jointly create a national clubhouse for men’s,women’s and youth national teams.

This will come in after the effect of EURO 2024, plus in preparation for the likelihood of the women’s Euro 2025. This plan was completed through the help of the players union (Spillerforeigen) as well as contributions from various national team players such as Christian Eriksen.  This is what they wanted. Hanson said, speak on behalf of the men’s players on the arrangements. Showing that this was not forced, but rather they took a responsibility to help make sure equality is possible. Due to the large growth in popularity of women’s football changes like this make sure that the game continues to be successful and sustainable. Within recent years, we can already see that Denmark has joined those who have decided to grant women’s team level of respect and resources, making sure that this and any generation to come is prepared. This is an extraordinary step for gender equality and should be recognized for showing how you are ‘one nation’.
