Will AIs Replace People Working in the Future?

 by Isobella Palmer-Ward

AIs also called artificial intelligence is ‘a field which combines computer science and robust datasets to enable problem-solving.’ This is becoming increasingly used in fields of work that deal with data analytics such as budget analysts and data entry keyers. This is due to the ease at which AIs can be produced for this specific job and their accuracy when dealing with statistics and numbers.

In this job field AI technology can easily outperform humans in the same profession, it is for this reason that it is predicted that by 2030 73 million jobs will be taken over by AI in the US. In addition, there are many other benefits. AIs are more efficient than humans doing the same job as they can be programmed to work quicker, this in turn could shorten the workday. Additionally, AIs could encourage a new expertise of work; training and refining AI algorithms. This is due to the need for AIs to continually be monitored and constantly be improved.

On the other hand, many people are strongly against the ever developing use of AIs as it can decrease employment rate, and then subsequently increase the number of people having to claim state benefits in countries such as the UK. This places more strain on the UK government.

Therefore, it is for these reasons that I believe AIs will be used more in the future than they are now. Although this will create lots of controversy, I believe business leaders will decide that this is the best idea to increase their work efficiency.
