Please Support Portsmouth Down Syndrome Association

 by Rachael Ross

Portsmouth Down Syndrome Association is a self-funding, award-winning charity committed to improving the lives of children with Down syndrome across Hampshire and beyond and they work hard to raise awareness, champion inclusion, and celebrate diversity in all areas.  They understand young people with Down syndrome can succeed when given the opportunity, and with the right support, and they believe they deserve the same opportunities and right to experience success as their peers.

Portsmouth DSA is largely managed by professional volunteers and provides a range of some of the best specialist services in the UK supporting development and education and offers training to assist families and professionals in providing effective support from the point of diagnosis, helping to teach children the skills they need to reach their developmental milestones, succeed at school, and become valued and productive members of their communities.

The charity’s services are the only fully comprehensive and progressive services in the UK supporting the child’s education and development from diagnosis through to young adulthood with training to assist families and professionals in providing direct and effective support to improve lives, opportunities and outcomes.  When children with Down syndrome are given opportunities to participate and be fully included, the whole community benefits.

Portsmouth DSA has been awarded royal approval in recognition of their valued work in the community.

Please sponsor PGS pupils Daniel Field, Owen McGovern, Jaime Mesa, Lily Gibbs, Imogen Diffey, Isabelle Powell and Samuel Grange who will be running in the Great South Run weekend, to raise funds for Portsmouth DSA, Whitcombe's chosen House charity.  Even a few pounds will really make a positive difference. https://justgiving.com/portsmouthdownsyndromeassociation (Please click the donate button on the right). You can find out more about Portsmouth DSA at www.portsmouthdsa.org.
