Two Poems

The Earth is Too Old

The earth is too old

For originality

I am a remake

Of a thousand people prior

And with this realisation

Comes a peaceful clarity

That I am not alone

For these words will be written

Again, and again, and again

Until the earth gets sick of hearing them

I Am Left Alone

I am left alone in existential dread

All my friends are far ahead

And I am stuck

And I fear soon my feet

Will be so deep in the ground

That I will be swallowed whole

But I do not move

For then people will see me

And I will be swallowed anyway,

Now with a judging audience
