Review: Guardians of the Galaxy

 by Owen Clay

During lockdown my family started, “Family Film Night” (which was actually 2!) on Friday evening we watched one half of a movie and then we watched the other half on Saturday evening. We were working our way through the Marvel movies when we reached Guardians of the Galaxy. I loved it so much that it is now my favourite movie EVER. I will now tell you about the main characters.

Peter Quill/Starlord: Peter Quill is human and was taken from earth as a child by Yondu and his Ravager clan. Peter grows up as a ‘legendary outlaw’ and gives himself the name Starlord. He is leader of the Guardians.

Gamora: Gamora is Thanos’ adopted daughter and has lived her life forced to be his ‘human weapon’. She met Quill when she was arrested (by Xandar police) alongside him Groot and Rocket because they were all fighting each other.

Groot: He is a Flora Colossus of few words. His vocabulary is limited to ‘I’ and ‘Am’ and ‘Groot’ in that exact order. He left his planet X due to his dislike of the way his kind treated mammals. He met Rocket in prison and they became best friends and partners in crime being put in and escaping many jails.

Rocket: This raccoon on two legs is the master of escape plans and is crazy when it comes to blowing things up. He nearly always has a big gun by his side. He can translate what Groot says to the others.

Drax: His wife and daughter were  killed by Thanos and he has sworn vengeance against Ronan the Accuser and Thanos. Drax is bravery before common sense and hurls himself at the enemy without thinking things through. Drax takes most things quite literally much to the amusement of the others.

I really loved this movie and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes fantasy/adventure (warning this movie is a 12).
