Sea Pollution

 by Eva Burkinshaw

Sea pollution occurs when chemicals and particles enter the ocean and 80% of the pollution in the sea comes from land. Pollutions in the ocean can make its way back to humans. The biggest cause of sea pollution is plastic waste that people are throwing into the sea.

A scientific study showed that if we don’t fix sea pollution soon then, by 2100, almost every coral reef will be dying. There will be even more storms because the seas will get warmer which will increase the issue of global warming and when water is warmer it evaporates at a faster rate which will therefore cause more storms.

We can help fix sea pollution by:

  • Reducing the amount of rubbish and waste we are using up.

  • Shopping wiser, and not using plastic bags but paper ones which will disintegrate quicker

  • Reduce the vehicle pollution- so the next time you need to buy a new car then maybe opt for a petrol free one

  • Using less energy, and being aware of what light bulbs you are using

  • Use the catch and release policy for fishing, so when you are fishing, release the fish so they don’t get caught

  • Treat the sea, nature, and any other type of nature, with respect so you don’t damage them.
