Poem: World United For a Common Cause

by Tom Clarke, inspired by the Prologue to Shakespeare's 'Romeo and Juliet'.

The world, united for a common cause

With airports shut down, and travel delayed

When the virus spread and we closed our doors

We curled up and waited, while our sanity frayed.

We all wore our masks, and we washed our hands

We found ways to cope, with one or two drinks

our houses were our own mysterious lands

But trapped we all felt, we started to sink

From fair Wuhan, whence from it all issued

A threat to fix that would need more than tissues
