The Premier League - So Far

Jordan Pickford

This Premier League is very special with Liverpool, currently injury prone, creating top flight controversy and Manchester United falling down into the relegation zone, leaving top spots open currently covered by Leicester City, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Southampton, in that order from first to fourth. This is causing controversy because of a number of games; however, one of the games that stood out to me was a recent Liverpool vs Everton match.

In this Premier League matchup, to start Robertson goes through a blue jersey and putting in a cross to Sadio Mane now hits net and only net, a great opener on derby day. An Everton clearance to nothing falls comfortably to Fabinho who passes a ball over the top to Van Dijk who is tackled unfairly by Pickford (the Everton goalkeeper.) But, wait, there's more, this was not the case for Van Dijk was offside but that was not it. Pickford was only given a yellow for a horrible foul and Van Dijk was injured so still cannot play to this day.

The Toffees (Everton) were awarded a corner, the ball was swung in and a header created an equaliser. Everton, Everton score, game score 1:1. A free kick to Liverpool is awarded; the townboy Alexander-Arnold was chosen to take a good shot. . . WHAT A SAVE! From Jordan Pickford, who may have just redeemed himself.

Liverpool have the ball again on the wing, the Liverpool captain on the ball (Jordan Henderson), deals in a cross which hits a blue jerseyed player; the clearance falls to no one other than Mohamed Salah, who strikes the ball into the bottom corner. A Liverpool corner is whipped in and followed up by a great header. . . WHAT A SAVE AGAIN! By Jordan Pickford!

The Toffees are on the left wing, the ball is in a dangerous area in the box and what a header by Calvert Lewin, who has made a late equaliser. Finally,  a mistimed challenge by Richarlison, another Everton player, who received a red card for that.
