The best actors in life are the warriors
And worriers. Battling day to day,
Putting a brave face on for others.
Hiding behind the mask,
So you can shield them from your enemies,
With no need for them to be in the battle and suffering with you.
Day to day, this facade is put on like uniform,
The armour underneath is for the warriors,
And the worriers. Shielding themselves from another
Day of wounds- as if there aren’t enough
On their innocent skin.
Why do this? To protect loved ones,
Warriors protecting the vulnerable,
And worriers protecting their family and friends,
So they don’t have to be burdened.
Both warriors and worriers,
Alike and strong,
The facade they hide behind,
A day to day item.
This poem is based on the perspective of mental health and what many go through in a day, I wanted to recognise that and show people how it is common to feel this way. Sometimes the strongest thing is to not hide behind that mask any longer and seek help - this is to raise awareness that you are stronger than you think.
