This year, the theme of our
annual Leonardo Poetry Competition is “20 20 Visions”.
With all of our experiences
of how our lives have been affected (not only physically but also mentally), we
thought it would be good time to explore what the world looks like now.
“Visions” could mean hopes,
or dreams, or memories. They could be upbeat or dark. They could be based on
little moments in your own life that have suddenly become significant because
of what is happening. They could be of a new, better world to come. They could
be anything you like!
Above all, though, let’s
celebrate our writers in the school, as we do each year, in a wonderful end-of- year event. It can’t be in school, but that frees us all to explore new
possibilities: you might record yourself, you might be writing a song and
preform it, you could illustrate your own poem: look around you over half term
and see what might inspire you!
Please send your poem or song in written, video or audio form by Monday, 22nd June to me at m.richardson@pgs.org.uk. If you have any questions at all, please contact me or ask your English teacher.
