Writing Wizards: Recipe for Chocolate Chip Cookie

Portsmouth Point editors have enjoyed working with Year 5's 'Writing Wizards' this term, who have written a series of articles that we are delighted to publish. This article is by Chloe Smith.

I love chocolate-chip cookies with milk-choc chips in them. Il like the actual cookie crispy and the choc chips gooey; they are my favourite type EVER.

What you need

150g salted butter, softened
80g light brown sugar
80g granulated sugar
1 large egg
225g plain flour
1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
1/4 tsp salt
200g milk chocolate chips

Great. Now you've got all the ingredients you can get cooking.

Preparing the cookies:

  1. Put your oven on 190’c (170’c for fan assisted ovens)
  2. Line 2 baking sheets with non-stick paper
  3. Put the butter and both sugars into a bowl and mix until creamy.
  4. Add the egg, flour, bicarbonate of soda and salt into the bowl and mix with a spoon.
  5. Now, the best bit, stir in the chocolate chips.
  6. Then spoon the mixture onto the baking trays leaving a space between them.
  7. Now bake for 8-10 minutes until they are golden and crisp, also another way to find out they are done put a knife down the middle and if the knife is clear then it is done.
  8. Leave on the tray for a couple of mins to set and then lift onto a cooling rack.
  9. Finally eat the golden, crispy, incredible, soft, chocolate chip cookies.

Thank you for reading my chocolate chip recipe, if you do bake this recipe then I hope you enjoy it!
