Writing Wizards: Man City beat Real Madrid 2-1


Portsmouth Point editors have enjoyed working with Year 5's 'Writing Wizards' this term, who have written a series of articles that we are delighted to publish. This article is by Dan Northeast.



On the 26th February 2020, Manchester City (Champions of the Premier League) went head to head against Real Madrid (Champions of Laliga) to see who would go through to the biggest football event on earth, the Champions League Knockout stage.


Man City brought Raheem Sterling onto the pitch and he made a huge change to the game. 60 minutes into the game the Real Madrid player, Isco, scored a cracking goal, until Man City made a big comeback. In the 78th minute Sterling ran up the wing, made a skillful cross to Gabriel Jesus who scored, GOAL! Gabriel Jesus scored an amazing goal just past the goalkeeper’s reach. And then, 5 minutes later Kevin De Bruyne scored another smashing goal. Unfortunately, one of Real Madrid's best player Sergio Ramos got a red card. Finally, the whistle blew for fulltime and Pep Guardiola shook hands with Zinedane Zidane.
