Writing Wizards: India’s Best Batsmen

Portsmouth Point editors have enjoyed working with Year 6's 'Writing Wizards', this term, who have written a series of articles that we are delighted to publish. This article is by Attish Das.

Firstly, let me give you a bit of background info. The talented cricket team of India has won the Cricket World Cup twice, which is quite good ... no, actually, it is amazing that the players of this incredible team are all so talented. There are lots of players currently in the Indian team (to be exact there are 15.) Here are the profiles of some of them:
Virat Kohli
Starting off with the captain, who is an opener. If you wanted to know what an opener is, this is the batsman or bowler who plays at the start of a match. The captain, Virat Kohli, has played amazingly in the CWC and got 5 half centuries in a row! His total runs in ODI matches are 4306 to be at an average of 78.29 runs per match.

Shikhar Dahwan
This is an amazing opener, who sadly got injured against Australia in the Cricket World Cup. Also, he scored an outstanding century. He has a strike rate of 93.8 and a total number of runs is 5355.

Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma is one of the best openers in the world with the highest score of one of the ODI matches (264). In the CWC last year, Rohit scored 5 centuries in a row! His total number of runs in ODI matches is 8010 with a strike rate of 87.95.  He also plays for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL.

KL Rahul
Kl Rahul is another opener for India who played for Shikhar Dahwan in the CWC after his injury. He has a nice style and way of getting runs. His total number of runs is around 5000 after facing 5100 balls. After all, he is a good opener.

MS Dhoni
Ms Dhoni is the best cricket player of all time. Unfortunately, he retired after playing the World Cup and hit a half century! He also led the Indian team to victory in 2011! His average number of runs in ODI is about 80 to 95 runs.

After all, there are many Indian cricketers who are really good at cricket like Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar.
Anyway, that’s the end and I hope you enjoyed reading it.
