Yes
this time my article is about one of Britain’s best reality TV shows ever: The
Apprentice. This is business-style reality show has, over many years, given an
amazing opportunity to a lot of youngsters who have business talent. Winners of
the show have gone on to launch their businesses to a whole new level, making them
massive millionaires. However the process is not at all easy; some would compare it to the Game of Thrones. Each task is tough and causes disputes between
each contestant; when you're in the boardroom it gets to a whole new level - you can see tears, laughter, anger and smiles all in one room.
Each week, Lord Sugar, the host of the show, gives
the candidates a task and all of them get split up into two teams; the
winning team survives, whereas, on the losing team, as Lord Sugar would say, ‘at
least one of you will be fired’. Usually, it’s one person a week getting fired but towards the end two
people get fired. Then, as all the tasks are finally completed, the
candidates would feel proud to get to the semifinals and would feel like
they’ve just done the toughest challenge of their life. But it just gets better - or should I say it just gets harder?
Next, they have to face their hardest interview ever - which is to face actual demons.
From top left to bottom right: Claudine Collins, Claude Littner, Mike Soutar and Linda Plant
|
Claudine
is the nicer interviewer and she tends to ask questions about the
candidate's personal life and likes to find out about their emotions. Claude And
Mike, however, are pretty dangerous and you don’t want to lie to them because
they will have known the ins and outs of your business. Finally, there is Linda, who has a voice that create nightmares in your
sleep. She’s another person you don’t want to lie to - because then she will slaughter you. When she asks you something, she will cut through you half way, long before you have even finished.
Finally
as the torture is over the candidates have a discussion with Lord Sugar and then then a further 3 candidates get
fired - with only 2 people left in the finals. The two finalists
battle it out to victory having to showcase their business to a number of
business people as well as Lord Sugar; they get the support they need from those candidates who have previously been fired from the show.
Now, on the Apprentice, there are some people who stand out not because of how good
they are but also because of how funny they are to watch.
Kuran
(above) was an actual joke on the Apprentice as he literally did nothing. He is
basically an extra and he never wanted to get into business; in fact he wanted
to be an actor. He even had a chance to be a project manager but then mucked it
up and eventually got fired after being very lucky.
On
the other hand, Thomas is definitely much better at business and in fact is the
total opposite of Kuran. Sometimes, he does all the work in team. Why Thomas
was funny was because of his smile and how he gets involved and his negotiation
skills. He’s a pretty entertaining person to watch. He’s also known for his
special vocabulary, such as "Bish, bash and bosh".
Finally, you’ve got Claude, who is like the meme of the show - literally
everyone makes fun of him (on the internet if you look up Claude memes you’ll
see a number of jokes just planking this man; his reactions are also quite
embarrassing).
So: are you interested in joining the
show? Are you hired - or fired?
