Vote Labour in the PGS Election!

Let’s get straight to the crux of the matter: Brexit. There is no doubt that collectively we know more about what Brexit really means now than we did in 2016. This is why Labour is proposing a second referendum. Now that we have all the facts, rather than just seeing £350 million on the side of a bus, the public should be given an opportunity to have a final say on this issue of tremendous importance to the future of our country. Many elements of Brexit were not clarified in 2016. The devastating effect that leaving the EU would have on our economy was not public knowledge. Furthermore, the Conservatives still have not published the Russia report. What do they have to hide? Yet more troubling, the Electoral Commission have stated that the Vote Leave campaign broke electoral law in 2016. Especially with such a small majority of 52:48, we should not accept the Leave result when the campaign was illegal. 

The orchestrator of the controversial Vote Leave campaign was none other than Boris Johnson, the current Conservative Prime Minister. Do you want a man who believes he is above the law to remain as Prime Minister? This is not the only time he’s done it. As you probably remember, he lied to the Queen about prorogation - which the Supreme Court later found to be unlawful. 

Boris Johnson uses the people’s issues as pawns in the game of chess that is his self-serving political career. The only reason he campaigned for Leave was to further his own ambition - as seen in the two contradictory articles he wrote about whether to leave or remain in the EU. Evidently, this plan was so cunning that you could put a tail on Johnson and call him a fox. Do you trust this man to be your next Prime Minister and painstakingly drag this country through years of post-Brexit trade negotiations? 

There are so many more Labour policies that would benefit our country. The shining example being our pledge to kickstart a green industrial revolution. Labour has a stronger climate policy than the LibDems, according to the Guardian, and the Conservatives, as seen in Boris Johnson’s failure to turn up to the climate debate last week. Labour will invest £400 billion in hitting climate and environmental targets, such as putting the UK on track for a net-zero-carbon energy system by the 2030s. 

A decade of Tory cuts has pushed our public services to breaking point, namely the NHS. A vote for Labour is a vote to invest over £1 billion in public health and save the NHS from privatisation and Trump’s America.

How will you pay for this? I hear you cry. This is not something you should be worried about, as we will slightly increase taxes on corporations and the top 5% of earners in the UK. Also, government borrowing is recommended right now because interest rates are currently low. 

Vote Labour for a final say on Brexit, to keep Boris Johnson out of No.10, to kickstart a green industrial revolution, and to save the NHS.
