Poem: 'Proud'

You’ve accomplished so much
Look how far you’ve come
Your journey was so long
It was hard
You wanted to quit
And here you are
Standing before the finish line
That last step beating on your chest

Look how far you’ve come
The long road you’ve travelled
The one filled with sorrows,
Misery, pain, heartache and
Every heartbreak in the world.
Look how far you’ve come
And look how damaged
You’ve become.

You may be damaged
But not broken
You may be collapsing
But you haven’t fallen
It’s okay now
You’re here
You’ve made it
Stop leaving harsh kisses
On your skin each time you pinch it
You’re where you are now
Where you wanted to be
Because you’ve come so far
Without letting yourself breathe.
