It is said that we make an average amount of 35,000
remotely conscious decisions everyday. Personally, I know that today I've made
plenty of decisions such as when to wake up, what to wear etc. When broken
down, it is therefore estimated that we make a decision every two seconds. You

Recently, I have been faced with many big decisions as a
lower Sixth Former. Often, when faced with difficult decisions that induce
stress, we go into fight or flight mode. This reaction can be good for us, as
it can increase our heart rates so we can make a fast exit. However it can be a
stressful time, so here are my top tips when faced with a difficult decision.
1. Speak to someone who has gone through the same situation
as you have.
When faced with problems it is really important to know
that you're not alone. Speak to someone you trust about what is going on and
let them help you understand your situation and what is the right next step.
Stress can often cloud our judgement so another pair of eyes may be what you
need.
2. Weigh out the Pros and Cons.
This seems like an obvious option and I find it often
works as even though it may not give you an easy answer, it may help you figure
out your options and realise that either side is equal.
3. Try not to let it get you down.
If the pressure is really building up, make sure to let
someone know. You don't always have to face the stress of decision making alone
and even though they may not have the answers, they may give you peace of mind
that it isn't the end of the world.
