London Fashion Week has been and gone, but one show among all of them stood out distinctly this year.
Burberry Prorsum’s Autumn/Winter 2014 show began with the water-coloured London skyline, within the grounds of the fresh gardens of new
Kensington. The floral 70’s-inspired garments started to emerge from the
backstage doors on to the catwalk.
Its been traditional for Christopher Bailey
(Burberry Prorsum's head designer) to incorporate the classic trench coat or
cape within all his shows. This season, it was different, however; the spotlight
shifted to sheepskin. Beautifully incorporated with floral embroidery and
decorated in simple brushstrokes, Burberry Prorsum's new staple piece is bound
to be a trend soon to hit the streets of Britain.
At
the entertainment side of the show, this time, Paloma Faith and
Rhodes staged a live performance; it wasn’t just the performers who caught the
press’ attention - the famous front row garnered almost as much attention
as the clothes. Tinie Tempah and Harry Styles both
attended, along with the actor Bradley Cooper, fresh from the BAFTAs, who was
there to support girlfriend Suki Waterhouse as she walked down the catwalk.
Also featuring on the notoriously super-model-rich show were: Cara Delevingne,
Jourdan Dunn, Edie Campbell, Matilda Lowther, Malaika Firth, Charlotte Wiggins
and Sam Rollinson. Christopher Bailey showed his appreciation of their
participation by sending each model out for the finale wearing a blanket
personalised with their initials - in doing so creating the new trophy piece of
the season.
