Did You Know: Unusual Laws?

 by Nathaniel G

Here is some information that may help you avoid getting into trouble when you go travelling across the world.

Centuries ago, a law was passed in Milan which made it a legal requirement to smile at all times unless you were in hospital or at a funeral.   This law has never been reversed.

In Turin, Italy a local and modern law requires dog owners to walk their pet at least three times a day.

If you are living in Scotland, and someone knocks on your door and asks to use the toilet, you must let them. This is from an old law a few hundred years ago.

In Samoa, a modern law makes it illegal to forget your wife’s birthday.  You may be fined!

If you insist on going to church in Alabama, USA please don’t wear a false moustache that makes people laugh.  This is not only insulting, but it is also illegal.

Since 1920, it has been illegal to let your donkey sleep in your bath if you are in Arizona, USA.  I don’t know if you can let him doze in the shower.

Don’t use chewing gum in Singapore unless you are allowed this from a doctor’s prescription.

In the state of Victoria, Australia you must not make noise using a vacuum cleaner between 10pm and 7am.

In Switzerland, it is illegal to keep only one guinea pig by themselves as they get lonely and sad without company. Buying a toblerone for him won’t be enough, legally you have to buy another guinea pig.
