Did you know: 'Moustaches'?

The oldest recorded moustache is depicted on a felt carpet that dates back to 300BC.  

In 1967, the pop group The Beatles, from Liverpool, gave away cut out cardboard moustaches with every sale of their album The Sergeant  Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Moustaches are able to absorb 20% of their weight in liquid.  

On average, a man with a moustache touches it 760 times every 24 hours.

Ram Singh Chauhan of Rajastan in India has the world’s longest moustache. It is nearly 4.5 metres long.

The artist Frieda Kahlo (1907- 1954) was the most famous woman to have a moustache, which she emphasised in her self-portraits.

The artist Salvador Dali (1904-1989) was also very famous for his moustache.  When his body was exhumed nearly 30 years after his death, his moustache was still in perfect condition.  

He also wrote a book dedicated to his moustache.  

In Nevada, America there is a law from years ago that hasn’t been cancelled: a man with a moustache cannot kiss a woman.  It doesn’t say whether he can kiss another man with a moustache.  

Emperor tamarins are small monkeys that live in the southwest Amazon. They have long, white whiskers that look very much like a moustache.  

Babies grow moustaches in the womb, and then eat them.

Police in Madhya, India are paid to grow moustaches because bosses believe it makes them smarter and more respected.

Ninety per cent of men shave once a day. Shaving uses up a total of five months of a man’s life if he starts at the age of 14.

Last year I wasn’t so sure about my moustache, but now it’s growing on me.
