The Rise in Renewable Energy

Amidst the globe’s current climate crisis, increasing the usage of renewable energy sources is one of the most critical steps that can be taken to address the global climate catastrophe. Renewable energy is energy produced from naturally replenishing sources such solar, wind, rain, and geothermal heat.

The utilization of renewable energy sources has significantly increased over the past ten years. In 2020, the production of electricity from renewable energy sources including solar and wind power amounted to around 11% of the total. When compared to a few decades ago, when renewable energy sources made up a much smaller share of the world's energy mix, this represents a tremendous gain.

One of the main causes of this rise in renewable energy is the lowering cost of technologies. Costs for solar and wind energy have drastically decreased in recent years, putting them on a par with conventional fossil fuel sources. In addition, government initiatives like tax breaks and subsidies have helped to promote renewable energy.

Growing knowledge of the negative effects that fossil fuels have on the environment and human health is another factor influencing the growth of renewable energy. Fossil fuel combustion produces air pollution that has been related to a number of diseases, such as cancer and respiratory problems. On the other hand, since they don't produce any harmful emissions, renewable energy sources are a better choice for the environment and people.

There is still a long way to go in the utilization of renewable energy, despite significant advancements. We must continue to use more renewable energy while reducing our dependency on fossil fuels to stop climate change. There will be a need for ongoing technology advancement, supportive public policy, and public education and awareness.

In conclusion, using more renewable energy is a step in the right direction toward a future that is cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable. While there is still much to be done, the fact that costs are coming down and more people are becoming aware of the advantages of renewable energy sources is encouraging.
