Poem: immortality

 by Lily Eldrid

immortality-

My skin shrivels and is born anew

a smooth reflective surface

protecting these bleeding veins

only at night

when visibility is futile

when only the moon

when only the darkness

can see my soul’s absence

revenge unholy-

faithless thoughts shroud

unwilling body

Deity’s disdain

shouts loud from tall places

always unanswered, I am unable

to speak again

for my words lack

your insipid taste

I wander how far

you would fall

off your golden pedestal

if pushed.

the body-

I crave a hollow body

a body of cruel words and sharp thoughts

a body splintered and vicious

a body smooth as bone

a defence

a nothing

a.
