Life-Hacks for the Summer Holidays

by Sophie Escott

The summer holidays are drawing near, so I am writing to give you cool and fun facts for the best stay-cation!

1. Bad weather? No problem!

Now we all know Britain is not known for its scorching temperatures, and some days can be kind of glum. Make your room into your own comfortable hub:
Step one: Get tons of duvets and blankets.
Step two: Get tons of comfortable pillows.
Step three: Make your pillows into a nest.
Step four: Grab your favorite snacks.
Step five: Put on some dim lighting, personal suggestion- Fairy lights.
Step six: Get a portable device.
Step seven: Prop up on books.

Now you have your perfect home-cinema!

2. Hot weather, had enough? Have a nice cool down!

Step one: Get an old plastic water bottle, preferably 500ml.
Step two: Cut it in half.
Step three: Get a lolly stick, or a metal straw.
Step four: Get one of your favorite drinks, preferably not fizzy.
Step five: Pour in your drink into the half of the plastic water bottle.
Step six: Put in your lolly stick or metal straw.
Step seven: Freeze for an hour or two.

Now you have your perfect home-made ice lolly!

3. Time to relax after a long school year!

We all have been through exams, which were very stressful, so here are a few methods to relax and recharge over the summer using house-hold items.

Number one: Honey sugar scrub.
You will need 1/3 of a cup of honey, ¼ of a cup of olive oil and some  granulated sugar (different people like different amounts). A bowl and a mixing accoutrement.
Step one: Pour your honey and oil into your bowl.
Step two: Mix thoroughly.
Step three: Pour in your sugar.
Step four: Put in a tub or a container.

Now you have a homemade body scrub.

4. Perfect Spa-day

Step one: Have a relaxing bath, use our body scrub!
Step two: Have a steam facial, you do this by pouring some hot water (from the kettle) into a bowl.
Step three: Moisturise your body using a homemade moisturizer:
Add half a cup of olive oil
Add half a cup of coconut oil
Add a quarter of a cup of beeswax pellets
(if you don’t own any of the above, you can get them on amazon)
Step four: Have a facial:
A quarter of a cup of oats
A quarter of a cup of honey

Time to relax and enjoy your homemade spa.

I hope you enjoyed these life hacks for the perfect summer!
